Jason Apple has joined Riveron Consulting, a consulting firm serving private equity funds, to help the firm expand into the Chicago market. Apple will serve as director of business development, and was previously a senior vice president of business development for Houlihan Lokey.

Peter A. Blackwood has been hired by investment bank Janney Montgomery Scott as a managing director in the firm’s Technology & Services Investment Banking Group. Prior to joining Janney, Blackwood served as principal and head of the Internet & Digital Media Group at Merriman Curhan Ford & Co. where he was responsible for the origination and execution of public equity, private equity and M&A advisory transactions.

Tim Broadbent has been appointed to lead Barclays Capital’s U.S. Leveraged Loan Syndicate team, according to an internal memo. The appointment fills the gap left by Bill Hughes, who departed to join Citigroup.

Monroe Credit Advisors has established an office in Boston and is adding two directors to its Chicago-based staff. The Boston office is headed by Linda Crothers and Katherine Brand. Brand was senior vice president in the Specialized Finance Group covering transportation accounts. Crothers was president of a bank subsidiary, Bank of America Public Capital Corp. The firm also hired Brent Krambeck and Michael Meyer to its Chicago office. Krambeck was president of GE Capital’s $3.6 billion Unitranche Fund. Meyer worked at a hedge fund performing equity buy-side analysis, and before that was a vice president with Merrill Lynch Capital.

John C. Cushman, III, Chairman of the Board of commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield, has been named chairman of Rock Creek Capital. Rock Creek Capital is an alternative asset management firm that invests in unique, resource-rich land.

Mel Deane has been named CEO of quick-serve restaurant chain Church’s Chicken, a portfolio company of Friedman, Fleischer & Lowe. Deane has worked for several FFL companies, most recently as CEO of Discovery Foods.

Rajiv Dutta has joined Elevation Partners as a managing director. He previously was executive vice president of eBay and president of eBay Marketplaces.

TCW Group has fired chief investment officer Jeffrey Gundlach. It also said that Gundlach would be replaced as head of TCW’s high-grade fixed income group by Tad Rivelle, a co-founder of recent TCW acquisition Metropolitan West Asset Management.

Christina Jamieson has joined mid-market lender Golub Capital as co-head of its Broadly Syndicated Loan group, where she will serve alongside Mike Loehrke. Jamieson was previously Portfolio Manager and Co-Head of Senior Loans at Morgan Stanley/Van Kampen.

Neel Kashkari, a former Goldman Sachs banker who ran the government’s $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), has been tapped to head PIMCO’s new investment initiatives.

Douglas L. Maine has been appointed a senior advisor to Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. Maine will work with BBH’s Investment Management division with specific emphasis on private equity investing, and will also assist BBH’s M&A advisory business. Maine was formerly CFO of MCI Communication and IMB Corp.

Callum McCarthy has joined J.C. Flowers & Co. as managing director for Europe and Asia-Pacific, while David Morgan has joined as European chairman. McCarthy previously was head of Britain’s main financial regulator, while Morgan was CEO of Australian bank Westpac. In related news, Ravi Sinha has stepped down as a London-based managing director.

Steve Miller, former chairman and CEO of Delphi Corp., has been named chairman of mid-market private equity firm MidOcean Partners. Mark Angelson, who was named firm chairman in December 2007, will remain on the MidOcean executive committee, but will devote most of his time to serving as chairman and CEO of publicly-held World Color Press.

BMO Capital Markets, the investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group, hired of a team of four health care investment bankers in New York and Boston. They include: Michael Neuberger, managing director, formerly of Jefferies & Co., who will lead the Health Care Group; Annette Grimaldi, managing director, who will lead the Life Sciences practice, Vice President Kristen Morse and Analyst Lee Incandela.

Ray Potter has joined real estate private equity advisory and investment firm Hodes Weill & Associates as a principal. Potter will focus on the firm’s property underwriting, due diligence and principal investment activities.
