Michael Capellas has stepped down as CEO of First Data Corp., in order to become a tech-focused senior advisor at KKR. First Data board member Joe Forehand, former chairman and CEO of Accenture, will take over as chairman and interim CEO. First Data is a KKR portfolio company.

Edmund Chiang has been named a managing director on Moelis & Co.’s capital markets group. He has been a senior advisor with the firm since April 2009, before which he was with Banc of America Securities as a managing director and head of private equity placements.

Christopher Lawless has joined Hunter Wise Financial Group as a managing director in the firm’s new Oregon office. He is a former director of strategic investments for Intel Capital.

Antoine de PĂ©guilhan of Cognetas, a European private equity firm, has promoted investment manager. He joined Cognetas in 2008 as an associate, after having been part of the French coverage team at Goldman Sachs.

Duke Dayal has joined Bank of the West as chief financial officer. He previously was a managing director with private equity firm Brysam Global Partners.

Mark Epley is stepping down as global head of financial sponsors at Deutsche Bank, according to Bloomberg. He reportedly plans to join Nomura Holdings.

Mary Hornby, Timothy Maloney and Paolo Parziale of Abbott Capital Management have each been promoted to managing director.

Fred Hu is stepping down as a China partner with Goldman Sachs, in order to launch a private equity fund.

Harris Williams & Co. has added two senior professionals to its Richmond office. Douglas Yablonski joined the firm as a managing director and Patrick McNulty as a director.

Robert Hull has agreed to join Providence Equity Partners as chief financial officer. He will succeed Raymond Mathieu, who will become a managing director focused on special projects. Hull most recently was CFO of GMAC, and before that was with Bank of America as CFO of the firm’s global wealth and investment management business.

Robert Hyer joined Houlihan Lokey from Greenhill & Co. to head a new practice focusing on companies in the financial technology industry. Hyer, a 23-year investment banking veteran, will be joined by Bruce Urbanek, a financial technology specialist formerly with Goldman Sachs and Citigroup.

Jaime Johnson has joined Hirtle Callaghan & Co. as director of private equity. He previously was a managing director with Paul Capital and, before that, spent six years with Alta Advisers.

Donald Layton has joined NewOak Capital as a senior advisor and co-chair of the firm’s investment committee. He also will help lead the development of a private equity vehicle for bank recaps. Layton is the vice chairman and co-CEO of J.P. Morgan Chase and former chairman and CEO of E*Trade Financial Corp.

Jurgen Leijdekker has joined Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe as an operating executive. He previously was president of Paul Winston Group.

Roger Marrero has joined Comvest as a managing director, working out of the firm’s West Palm Beach, Fla. office. He previously was a principal with ABRY Partners in Boston.

Paul Miller has joined Empire Investment Holdings as a senior vice president of M&A.

Mark Pacala has joined Oak Hill Capital Partners as a senior advisor, with a focus on the health care sector. He has spent the past eight years as a general partner with Essex Woodlands Health Ventures. Before that, he ran both the Forum Group (sold to Marriot Corp.) and American WholeHealth Inc.

Adriana Peterson has joined Burrill & Co. as managing director of human resources. She previously ran executive search firm NEXUSBioMed.

Sam Pullara has stepped down as Yahoo’s chief technologist, in order to become an entrepreneur-in-residence with Benchmark Capital. In other Benchmark news, current entrepreneur-in-residence Marten Mickos is leaving to become CEO of Benchmark portfolio company Eucalyptus Systems.

Henry Robin has joined North Sea Capital as a senior partner and head of the Denmark-based firm’s New York office. He previously was a partner with AlpInvest.

Nathaniel Robinson has joined the Virgo Capital as a vice president in the firm’s Austin, Texas office. He previously worked in Morgan Stanley’s Global Technology M&A Group.

Patrick Rond of Key Principal Partners, a lower middle market private equity firm based in Cleveland, has been promoted to vice president. Rond joined the firm in 2002 as an analyst. KPP is the private equity arm of KeyCorp.

Abhijit Sen has joined KKR India as chief financial officer and chief administrative officer. He is the former South Asia CFO for Citigroup.

Jon Skelly has joined Cleveland-based boutique bank Vetus Partners as a managing director. He previously focused on the wholesale distribution sector of PCE Investment Bankers, before which he served as a director of business development for Home Depot and director of M&A for Hughes Supply Inc.

Garrett Walls has agreed to join Angelo Gordon & Co. as head of marketing. He previously was with TCW Group, as a managing director responsible for strategic relationships.
