Gen. Michael P. C. Carns has been appointed to serve on the board of directors of GeoEye, a provider of geospatial data services. He joins nine other board members and has been appointed as the board representative of Cerberus Capital Management. GeoEye partnered with Cerberus, which provided financing support of the company’s bid on the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s EnhancedView program.

Chrystal Capital Partners, a corporate finance firm based in London, has added to its team: Alex Hambro will lead offerings for family offices; Iain Manley and Glynn Reece will work on alternative fundraising projects for private and public companies.

Robert Curley has joined Silicon Valley Bank as managing director and sector head for software in its corporate finance group. He worked previously as senior vice president and managing director of MMV Financial in Palo Alto, Calif.

Claire Scobee Farley and David Rockecharlie have been named managing directors at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. Scobee Farley and Rockecharlie are founders of privately-owned oil and gas exploration and development company RPM Energy.

Anthony Habgood has joined the board of directors of Preqin, the alternative asset data provider, as chairman. Habgood is chairman of Reed Elsevier and Whitbread plc.Vikram Lall has been named chairman of India-focused private equity firm Elephant Capital. He replaces Pramath Raj Sinha. Lall has been a non-executive director of Elephant Capital since October. Sinha will remain as a non-executive director on the board.

Kevin Landry, the chairman of TA Associates, which manages around $16 billion in capital, is battling a serious illness, according to people briefed on the matter, Reuters reported. TA Associates declined to comment on the nature of Landry’s illness.

Sanghyun Lee has joined The Carlyle Group to lead its Korean investments, Reuters reported. Lee, a Korean native formerly with Affinity Equity Partners, who led such investments as Korean skin care company TheFaceShop for Affinity, will be a Seoul-based managing director for Carlyle Asia Partners, Reuters reported.

Thomas Lesch has joined The Chicago-based investment bank Livingstone as a vice president in its debt capital markets practice. Lesch was most recently a vice president of commercial banking at BMO Harris Bank and Bank of America/LaSalle Bank.

Robert Morgan

has been promoted at Northern Trust to lead the Northern Trust Alternatives Group, the bank announced. The unit will develop and manage all alternative investment products, including hedge and private equity funds of funds, for institutional and personal clients. Morgan was previously director of private equity at Northern Trust.

Harvey Solway is retiring as executive chairman of Pet Supplies Plus effective Dec. 31, the company announced. Pet Supplies Plus is backed by Irving Place Capital.

Josh Sullivan has joined Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe as an operating executive at the firm. Sullivan was most recently an associate principal at McKinsey & Co.Donna Toth has joined Alternative Investment Management as chief operating officer. Toth will be based in New York and will report directly to Jonathan Harris, president of AIM, which invests in hedge funds and private equity funds.

Randall Whitestone has joined The Carlyle Group as principal and director of communications for the Americas. Whitestone, with more than 25 years of experience in corporate communications and financial journalism, comes to Carlyle from Neuberger Berman where he served as global head of corporate communications. He is based in New York.
