Michael Capellas has joined Silver Lake Partners as a senior advisor. He was president and CEO of MCI from December 2000 through January 2006, and helped oversee its acquisition by Verizon Communications. Before MCI, he was president of Hewlett-Packard.

Eric Chilton has joined Fortis as a managing director and U.S. head of corporate and I-banking. He previously was a managing director with Barclays Capital, where he most recently served as head of global loans (Americas).

Jerry Fadden has joined Tri-Artisan Partners as a managing director. He previously was a turnaround consultant, most recently serving as interim CFO for aluminum and vinyl windows manufacturer Altrium Cos.

Lawton Fitt has joined GSC Partners as a senior advisor. She previously was a partner with Goldman Sachs, and a senior member of that firm’s high-tech I-banking team.

C. Kim Goodwin has joined Credit Suisse Asset Management as head of equities. She previously was CIO for equities at State Street Research Management.

Hercules Technology Growth Capital has promoted David Lund to chief financial officer and hired Jessica Baron as corporate controller. Lund joined Hercules in 2005 as vice president of finance and senior corporate comptroller, while Baron previously was a finance business manager at Cisco Systems.

Preston Kavanagh has agreed to join Homesite Insurance as chief financial officer, after having previously served as a partner and CFO with CCP Equity Partners. In related news, CCP Equity will shut down by early next year, with staffers splitting up to form two separate firms (Talcott Partners and Farmington Capital Partners).

JP LaChance has joined San Francisco-based KCA Partners as a vice president. He previously was with Fundamental Capital.

David McVeigh has joined The Blackstone Group as an executive director in the firm’s private equity unit. He previously was a partner with McKinsey & Co., where he led the firm’s North American Chemicals and Northeast Energy and Materials practices.

Bardia Mesbah has joined Brookstone Partners as a principal. He previously was a vice president with Emigrant Capital and, before that, was a partner and co-head of the specialty chemicals practice at Kline & Co.

Barbara Piette has joined Knightsbridge Advisers as a managing principal, focused on venture capital. She has been president of Blackwood Capital since 2000, before which she was a partner with both Schroder Ventures and Charles River Ventures. Knightsbridge also said that Jon Sweemer has joined the firm’s venture and post-venture investment committees. He already was a Knightsbridge board member, and currently runs SPS Global Investors.

Royal Bank of Scotland said that Euan Hamilton, head of global leveraged finance and high yield, will relocate to the U.S., while John Hourican will join the team as head of leveraged finance and high yield for Europe and Asia-Pacific. Hourican currently is chief operating officer of RBS’ Global Banking & Markets group.

Jim Rutter has left Square1 Bank, where he had been in charge of the Silicon Valley office.

Salem Partners has promoted Brendan Houlihan to vice president, where he will focus on M&A and financial advisory work in the firm’s entertainment practice.

Lisa Steffens has joined J.F. Lehman & Co. as director of investor relations. She previously was a risk consultant and project manager for the Shaw Group. J.F. Lehman also has added two senior analysts: H. Lee French (Wachovia Securities) and Bryan Rubin (RBC Capital Markets).

Elizabeth Varley Camp has joined Healthpoint Capital as a managing director. She previously headed the business engagement team at Ewing Management Group. Before that, she was a managing director in the private equity group of Goldman Sachs.
