Shane Braunstein has joined GAIN Capital Group, a provider of foreign exchange services, as vice president of corporate development. He previously was with 3i Group.

The Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association has promoted Aaron Norton as a senior portfolio manager for private equity. He replaces David Martus, who recently left to join Pegasus Capital Advisors.

William J. “Butch” Cullen and Janet Barbiere joined law firm Kaye Scholer’s structured finance group as partners. Cullen and Barbiere will be located in New York, and previously were with Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP.

Leslie Fenton has joined the Chicago office of KPMG Corporate Finance as a managing director and head of insurance I-banking. She previously was with Navigant Consulting.

The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has promoted Alison Barad to associate director of private equity. She succeeds Denise Strack, who was recently named the Foundation’s chief investment officer.

Jane Keller has joined private equity firm Purepay as a vice president focused on the electronic payments sector. She previously was an executive with Electronic Clearing House.

Michael Klein is ending his 23-year career with Citi, where he most recently served as chairman of the firm’s institutional clients group. Before that, he was chairman and co-CEO of Citi Markets & Banking. No word yet on his future plans.

Gary LaBranche has been named president and CEO of The Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), effective September 1. He has spent the past five years as president and CEO of the Association Forum of Chicagoland.

John Leach has joined UK venture philanthropy group Impetus Trust as an investment director, on a pro bono basis. He is the former head of Barclays Capital’s European sponsor coverage business. David Morgan has joined JC Flowers & Co. as an operating partner and chairman of Australian operations. He is the former CEO of Westpac Banking Corp., and currently serves as a director of BHP Billiton.

Trace McCreary has joined Barclays Capital as a managing director and head of U.S. infrastructure finance. He previously was with Bear Stearns as a senior managing director in the firm’s global industries group.

Raj Pai has joined Global Environment Fund as a managing director for the Chevy Chase, Md.-based private equity firm’s India and South Asia investments. A former CID Capital managing director, Pai will be based in Mumbai.

Paul Capital Partners has promoted Ken Macleod to partner. He is based in the firm’s London office, and focuses on European and Asian healthcare opportunities.

David Riley has joined Sadis & Goldberg LLP as a San Francisco-based partner in the firm’s corporate and financial services group. He will focus on private equity and hedge fund formation and ongoing services.

William Sonneborn has joined Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. to help further develop the firm’s asset management platform. He previously was president and COO of The TCW Group.

Julian Cheong has joined Lehman Brothers as co-head of Asia-Pacific financial institutions, according to Dow Jones. He was previously a managing director with Goldman Sachs.

Sean Breen has joined CCMP Capital as an associate. He previously was with Lehman Brothers as an analyst in the firm’s global leveraged finance group.

Ken Wilson, Goldman Sachs’ most senior financial institutions banker, is taking a temporary leave to advise U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson.
