* HSBC Private Equity, the mid-market private equity arm of the UK bank, has appointed Basil Sakellis as an investment manager. Sakellis was previously at buyout and mezzanine provider European Capital, and before that at Rothschild in UK mid-market M&A advisory. Sakellis was an analyst and then an associate at NM Rothschild in London from 2000 to 2004, after which he worked for McKinsey & Company. He was at the London office of European Capital from 2006. At HSBC Private Equity, Sakellis will report to Mahmoud Atalla, who heads the department.
* Permira, a London-headquartered global private equity firm, has appointed David Williams as a senior adviser. Williams previously spent 25 years at SIG, a listed supplier of specialist building products and services to the building and construction industries. He also served as the group’s chief executive between 2002 and 2008, and during his tenure completed more than 50 acquisitions. At Permira, Williams will support the firm in identifying investment opportunities in the industrial product and services sector, with a particular focus on the building and construction industries.
* Deloitte has hired Liam Camburn as a new director in its private equity transaction services team. He joins from mid-market private equity firm Rutland Partners. In his new role, Camburn will focus on advising deals in the mid-market space.
At Rutland Partners, he focused on UK mid market deals involving underperforming businesses with a need for active restructuring or assistance with strategic change.
