Pittman Named CEO At Clear Channel

Bob Pittman has been named CEO of CC Media Holdings, which is backed by Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee Partners, the company announced. Pittman joined Clear Channel, the parent of the Clear Channel radio business and Clear Channel Outdoor and the U.S. largest media business of its kind, in November as an investor and chairman of media and entertainment platforms.

He’ll remain a member of the private New York investment firm Pilot Group and will oversee Clear Channel’s global media properties, including the radio group, digital and mobile syndication, media representation and outdoor. Pittman will also join the board of CC Media Holdings and Clear Channel Communications and will become Clear Channel Outdoor’s executive chairman.

Mark Mays, chairman of Clear Channel Media Holding—and CEO until dropping that title earlier this year—said, “He has been an invaluable contributor to Clear Channel Radio since last November, and he is the perfect person to take Clear Channel to the next level.”

Added Pittman: “I know first-hand that we have great people and the assets that allow them to do great things. We are so much more than just transmitters and broadcast towers—we leverage our local brands, personalities, strategic relationships and programming expertise to create unique experiences that forge real connections with consumers across our multiple platforms.”
