Platina launches asset management company

Renewable energy-focused private equity firm, Platina Partners, has launched Engineering Renewables Ltd (ERL), a new asset management company.

The company will oversee the development, construction, financial management and operation pipeline of Platina’s renewable energy funds. The current portfolio spans across the UK, Spain, Greece, Italy and Cyprus.

Technical director of ERL, Patrick Geraets will lead a 12 strong team of engineers in the newly launched company. The firm is currently recruiting a managing director to lead the commercial business.

Partner at Platina, Emma Collins, said: “The attractions of renewable energy to investors are compelling in the current market. For investors, stable cash flows during operation, combined with risk adjusted returns and government-backed tariffs, provides attractive hedge.”

ERL was born out of a merger between Your Energy Services, a renewable energy company controlled by Platina and the project delivery arm of BVG Associates, a renewable energy consultancy.

Platina has over €270m dedicated to the renewables sector and currently invests in mature renewable energy projects in the wind, biomass, small-scale hydro and solar sectors.
