Podshow tunes in $15M more

PodShow Inc., a podcasting startup co-founded by a former MTV personality, has landed another $15 million, bringing its total venture funding to $23.85 million.

The Series B round was financed by previous backers Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Sequoia Capital, Ram Shiram and Jerry Newman, as well as a new lead investor that has not been named.

Rumors floated around the DEMO conference last week in San Diego that the deal might get even larger, but Ray Lane, who sits on PodShow’s board on behalf of Kleiner Perkins, told PE Week that the $15 million is all for now.

Lane also acknowledged that PodShow has become a bit of a VC bellwether for the podcasting market, as its original funding was soon followed by deals for companies like Odeo and Podtech.net. That could mean more podcasting deals will be coming down the pike.

PodShow was started by Ron Bloom of Boku Communications and Adam Curry, formerly a VJ for MTV. —Dan Primack
