Specialty retailer Aaron’s Inc has named Brian R. Kahn to its board. Matthew E. Avril will join the board as well. Kahn is a managing member of Vintage Capital Management, a growth equity firm that is Aaron’s second largest shareholder, while Avril is the former president of the hotel group of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.

San Diego-based BioNano Genomics has hired Mike Ward as vice president of corporate development and a member of the senior executive management team. Previously, Ward worked at Lurie Investment Fund, a family office based in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

Bob’s Discount Furniture, which is backed by Bain Capital, has hired Chris Day as senior vice president of real estate. Previously, Day worked at Coventry Real Estate Advisors, where he served as senior vice president of retail services. Headquartered in Manchester, Connecticut, Bob’s Discount Furniture is a retailer of low-cost home furnishings.

Findly, a portfolio company of Symphony Technology Group, has hired Sal Apuzzio as senior vice president, Eastern region new business sales. Previously, Apuzzio worked at SilkRoad, where he served as executive vice president of sales, Americas. Based in San Francisco, Findly is a talent platform.

Invacare Corp has named Michael J. Merriman to its board of directors. Merriman is an an operating adviser for private equity firm Resilience Capital Partners. Headquartered in Elyria, Ohio, Invacare is a maker of home and long-term care medical products that promote recovery and active lifestyles.

KMG Chemicals, a specialty chemicals provider, has named James Gentilcore to its board of directors. The former CEO of Edwards Group, Gentilcore is an executive adviser to CCMP Capital Advisors.

Swift Worldwide Resources, a portfolio company of Wellspring Capital Management, has added Rodney F. Nelson as a non-executive member of its board. Nelson has served as a corporate officer and vice president at Schlumberger. Based in Houston, Swift is a provider of contract engineers and other personnel to the oil and gas sector.
