Peter Kahng joined Advanced Technology Ventures as an associate in the firm’s Palo Alto,Calif., office. Kahng came from 4C Ventures where he was a venture consultant. Kahng was placed at ATV by Glocap Search LLC of New York.

Roger Heinen, a Microsoft Corp. veteran, has joined Flagship Partners as a managing director. Bill Strecker, currently a managing director of Flagship, was named a general partner of its OneLiberty Fund. Per Suneby, a serial entrepreneur, joined the firm as a venture partner and executive-in-residence. Compaq technologist Bill Koteff, was named senior principal. Akshay Patel, previously an associate of Flagship’s OneLiberty Fund was promoted to principal.

Joel Serface has been appointed to Eastman Chemical Company’s venture capital group. Serface will help Eastman identify new investment opportunities, manage venture industry relationships and support portfolio companies in the Bay Area and Texas. Serface joins Eastman from Sierra Ventures, where he was director.

Michael Aspinwall has been named a partner with Conning Capital Partners, a private equity group specializing in financial services and health care services. Most recently, Aspinwall served as a managing partner of Bear Stearns Health Innoventures, a health care-focused venture capital fund.

John Kaufman has joined law firm Carter, Ledyard & Milburn as a partner. Prior to joining the firm, Kaufman was a partner at Winston & Strawn. Kaufman currently does venture capital work for investment funds, including Exeter Capital, Walden Capital Partners, Brown, Brothers Harriman & Co. and Amberbrook III LLC.
