Baird Capital has promoted Gordon C.C. Liao, Yongshan Zhang and Alex Kessel. The firm also announced that John DiGiovanni is rejoining the company. Liao and Zhang were promoted to principal from vice president, and Kessel was promoted to vice president from senior associate. DiGiovanni rejoins as a senior associate.

Clearview Capital has promoted Matthew Blevins and James Tucker to principal, and John Cerra to chief financial officer. Blevins joined Clearview in 2007 as an associate. Tucker joined the firm in 2007 as vice president-business development. Cerra joined Clearview in 2010 as controller. Clearview Capital, of Old Greenwich, Conn., invests in mid-market companies.

UK growth focused mid-market buyout firm ECI Partners has promoted Lewis Bantin to the position of partner within the firm. Bantin joined the firm in May 2008.

Hellman & Friedman has promoted Hunter Philbrick, Judd Sher and Tarim Wasim to managing director. Philbrick joined Hellman & Friedman in 2003. Sher joined Hellman & Friedman last year as chief financial officer. Wasim joined the firm in 2005 in its San Francisco office.

Asset manager Legg Mason Inc. named Joseph Sullivan as its permanent chief executive officer, picking an insider to stanch outflows from its funds and smooth relations with its autonomous investment units, Reuters reported. Sullivan had been the company’s sales chief and interim CEO, and his appointment was expected. Baltimore-based Legg Mason had been seeking a new CEO since Mark Fetting stepped down under pressure last fall.

John Coelho and Scott Hart have been promoted to partner at StepStone Group. Both have been with the firm for six years, StepStone said in a press release. Coelho is a member of the research team and focuses on venture capital and growth equity investments. Hart is a member of the research team and focuses on European investments, energy investments and co-investments.

Mike Drai has been promoted to principal from vice president at private equity firm Sterling Partners. Drai joined Sterling in 2008 after working at GTCR Golder Rauner, Allen & Co. and Salomon Smith Barney.

TSG Consumer Partners has announced the promotions of three individuals. Daniel Costello, previously a vice president, was named a senior vice president, and Karen Hart and Michael Layman both advanced from senior associates to vice presidents.
