First Reserve has promoted Gary Reaves to managing director and Will Brown to director. Headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut, First Reserve is a private equity firm focused on the energy sector.

Global growth equity firm General Atlantic has promoted Robbert Vorhoff to managing director and Aaron Goldman and Amit Soni to principal. Vorhoff is based in New York and runs GA’s global healthcare sector. Goldman and Soni work in the firm’s New York and Mumbai offices, respectively.

Highland Capital Management has promoted Jess Larsen to head of institutional sales and marketing. In this position, Larsen is responsible for business development and managing institutional relationships worldwide. Larsen joined Highland in September 2012 from Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London, where he was director, capital introductions. He will be based in Dallas and will report to Mark Okada, Highland’s co-founder and chief investment officer.

Energy-focused private equity firm Intervale Capital has promoted Tuan Tran to principal. Tuan joined Intervale in 2006 as an associate. In this new role, Tran will focus on transaction sourcing and execution and portfolio company oversight.

Sidley Austin LLP has elected 24 new partners effective Jan. 1, 2014, across nine of the firm’s offices — six in the U.S. and three international offices. One of those attorneys who made partner was Christopher Gleason, who focuses on private equity out of the firm’s Dallas office.

TSG Consumer Partners has promoted Jennifer Baxter Moser to managing director and partner, and Dan Costello to principal. Moser joined TSG nearly seven years ago and Costello joined the firm in 2007.
