Promotions at General Atlantic

US private equity firm General Atlantic (GA) has unveiled a host of promotions within the firm, in both the UK and Germany.

Düsseldorf-based Oliver Thum has moved to the position of managing director, and Gabriel Caillaux and Jan Hammer to principal, both based in London, and Jan-Daniel Neumann, based in Düsseldorf.

Dr Thum focuses on cross-industry investment in Europe with specific expertise in healthcare. Prior to joining GA in 2001, he was a consultant with Bain & Company. Caillaux focuses on investments in the financial services, communications and business services sectors in Europe. He joined GA in 2004.

Hammer joined GA in 2003, identifying and executing numerous acquisitions for GA portfolio companies. Before joining GA, Mr. Hammer worked at Morgan Stanley from 1998 though 2003 as an analyst and associate.

Neumann has worked closely with a number of public and private portfolio companies since his 2003 appointment. Prior to joining GA in 2003, he worked for the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in Frankfurt.
