Investment advisory firm Baron Point Financial has appointed Teerapol Pussadet as a senior adviser to the directors of the firm. Pussadet has agreed to work with Baron Point’s senior management on strategic initiatives and to give advice on the company’s structuring capabilities.

Private equity-focused investment bank Cogent Partners has opened an office in San Francisco to expand relationships with clients in the western United States and Canada. Andy Nick, a director, has relocated to San Francisco from Dallas to lead this effort.

David Phillips has joined The Collins Group, a financial advisory boutique with offices in Montreal, Stockholm and Sao Paulo, as senior adviser for the chemical industry. Phillips has more than 40 years of experience as a senior chemical industry executive. The firm also promoted Roberto Freire to executive director. Friere joined the firm in August as a senior adviser.

Matthew DeSalvo has joined CRT Capital Group, an independent institutional broker-dealer, as chief operating officer. The firm is based in Stamford, Conn. Most recently, DeSalvo was head of Credit Suisse’s U.S. equity sales and trading unit.

CTPartners, a global retained executive search firm, has hired David Rossi as a partner in the industrial practice. He previously worked at Korn/Ferry International, where he was a senior client partner in the firm’s global industrial market. Rossi’s focus is on serving clients in the natural resources and diversified manufacturing sectors. He is based in the firm’s Chicago office.

Corporate finance advisory firm Gleacher Shacklock has appointed Richard Slimmon has joined the firm as a partner. Slimmon was previously a managing director at Deutsche Bank.

Malcolm Thompson is joining the San Francisco investment bank MidSpan Partners as a vice president. Prior to joining MidSpan Partners, Thompson worked at a family office in San Francisco and led their direct principal investing activities in mid-market companies.

Specialized healthcare lender MC Healthcare Finance has hired Kim Gordon has as senior vice president and director of credit. Gordon is located in MC Healthcare’s Chicago office. Gordon previously was vice president and deputy chief credit officer at Ridgestone Bank, which has offices in southeastern Wisconsin and the Chicago area.

The Spartan Group, an investment banking group, has hired Michael A. Mitgang as a managing director and head of technology investment banking. Mitgang brings over 20 years of experience in investment banking and private equity and has participated in merger, acquisition, advisory and financing assignments for domestic and international clients.
