Shake-up at Montagu

London-based mid-market private equity firm Montagu Private Equity has made two important changes to its management structure.

As part of the shake-up, chief executive Chris Masterson will become chairman, and director Jason Gatenby will succeed him as chief executive.

In his new role, Masterson will be able to focus on strategic and investment-related matters. He will continue to have overall responsibility for the firm’s strategy, ensuring continuity of the Montagu investment philosophy.

As the new chief executive, Gatenby will undertake much of the investment and operational responsibilities previously held by Masterson. The changes have the unanimous support of the Montagu directors.

Masterson said of the changes: “This organisational change is a natural evolution for the firm, which I believe will considerably enhance our effectiveness. I am excited about Montagu’s future and remain fully committed to the firm – I will not be winding down my involvement.”
