Former SL Capital Partners executive John Cancellieri joined Permal Capital Management as a principal.

Cancellieri joined in July, according to his LinkedIn profile. He’s evaluating, analyzing and monitoring portfolio investments, his biography on Permal’s website says.

Cancellieri had been an investment director at SL Capital from 2008 till July, his LinkedIn profile said. SL Capital is the private-markets investment group within Standard Life Investments, a subsidiary of Standard Life, a FTSE 100 listed company.

Prior to SL Capital, Cancellieri was a financial analyst at General Electric from 2001 to 2007.

Permal, formed in 1994 and based in Boston, focuses on the smaller end of the market. The firm engages in primary fund-of-funds and secondary investments, as well as direct co-investments. Permal also tailors investment vehicles for investors.
