Slaughter to lead JP Morgan’s sponsor coverage

JP Morgan has appointed Larry Slaughter, co-head of its European M&A practice, as head of its financial sponsor group in Europe. Slaughter succeeds John Coyle, who was recently promoted to global head of the financial sponsor group and is relocating to New York in the autumn. Coyle himself succeeded Jonathan Weiss, who left on June 6 to join Wachovia Securities as a managing director and head of its financial sponsors group reporting to head of investment banking Kevin Roche.

Klaus Diederichs, head of European investment banking at JP Morgan, said: “I am very pleased to announce Larry’s appointment. I have worked with him for the last 18 years and he brings a wealth of skills and experience to the position. His previous role as co-head of European M&A in particular will be extremely valuable to our financial sponsor clients.”

Coyle, who set up the European financial sponsors team, said: “Over the last seven years we have built the pre-eminent financial sponsor franchise in Europe, demonstrated by our leading position in debt, advisory and equity.”

In his new position, Slaughter will report to Diederichs and Coyle.
