Sweetwater Capital brings on secondaries veteran Reed as senior adviser

  • Reed worked at Pantheon on secondaries for 13 years
  • Worked at Stafford Capital prior to Sweetwater
  • Sweetwater launched last year

Jeffrey Reed, a former secondaries professional at Pantheon, joined new firm Sweetwater Capital as a senior adviser.

Reed on Dec. 11 confirmed the hiring.

He’ll help the firm source secondaries deal flow as well as help with client mandates, according to James Gamett, who founded Sweetwater last year. The firm invests in secondaries, co-investments and direct investments on behalf of clients.

Reed worked at Pantheon from 1999 to 2012 on the secondaries team. He then joined Stafford Capital Partners, where he worked from 2012 to 2016, his LinkedIn profile shows.

On secondaries, Sweetwater focuses on small portfolio sales and GP restructurings. The firm invests on behalf of clients, building direct private equity separate accounts.

Gamett was previously head of secondaries at StepStone Group and founded Madison Creek Partners, a healthcare services company.

Joining Gamett at Sweetwater were Managing Directors Brooks Lindberg, an ex-Partners Group executive, and Joseph Siletto, who has investment banking and corporate leadership experience; Ron Heinz, former vice president at Signal Peak Ventures as principal; and Cameron Rondo as senior associate.
