Syngenta launches US$100m biotech fund

Agribusiness group Syngenta has launched a US$100m venture fund aimed at the plant science sector. Managed by Dutch biotech firm Life Science Partners (LSP), the fund, called LSP BioVentures, is based in Boston in the US and will target start-up and growth capital opportunities across the globe, with particular attention to crop biotechnology and protection, as well as biomaterials and biofuels.

Syngenta hopes to make both a financial return from its investments as well as securing early cooperation with emerging innovators in the sector.”
