Trinity Backs Up Yosemite Series B

Yosemite Technologies is expected to announce June 7 that it has received a $10 million Series B round of funding led by Trinity Ventures.

This round, which includes current investors Hummer Winblad and Altos Ventures, will be used to drive Yosemite’s continued expansion in the backup software market, also know as data protection, which some consider the largest segment of the overall storage software market.

Yosemite secured $5 million from Hummer Winblad and Altos Ventures in its first round of funding in April 2003. The Fresno, Calif.-based company, which was founded in 1996, would not disclose its valuations, but said its Series B funding represented an up round in valuation.

“The goal of our initial investment was in part to expand the company’s worldwide presence,” said Doug Hickey, partner at Hummer Winblad. “Yosemite has exceeded that goal with a substantial increase in international distribution and partnerships that will catapult the company to the next level.”
