Aleris International Inc., a maker of aluminum rolled products, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It’s secured more than $1 billion in debtor-in-possession financing. Aleris is owned by TPG Capital.

Forward Foods LLC, a Minden, Nev.-based maker of energy bars, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The move came after the company was forced to recall many of its products because of the tainted peanut recall by supplier Peanut Corp. of America. Forward Foods is a portfolio company of Emigrant Capital Corp. Nailite International, a Miami, Fla.-based maker of molded plastic residential siding products, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company was acquired in 2003 by Graham Partners and Argosy Partners.

Pliant Corp., a Schaumberg, Ill.-based maker of plastic shrinkwrap for packaging, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company had previously entered bankruptcy protection in January 2006, but emerged in July of that same year. It was acquired in 2000 by what is now CCMP Capital Partners, which retained a significant position following the 2006 restructuring.
