UK entrepreneurs twice as keen to sell

Accountancy firm BDO Stoy Hayward has found that the number of entreprenueurs in the UK keen to sell their businesses has doubled compared to this time last year. The advisor puts this shift in sentiment down to the more attractive tax advantages of business asset taper relief rather than a view on the likelihood of the continuation of the current unfavourable economic environment.

“We have seen a marked increase in the numbers of entrepreneurs looking to sell in the last three months. The Chancellor’s taper relief changes have given entrepreneurs a genuine incentive to consider realising value,” says Peter Hemington, head of M&A at BDO Stoy Hayward.
