Warburg Pincus Adds To Tech Portfolio –

International private equity firm E.M. Warburg Pincus & Co. reached an agreement this month to acquire Mannesmann ipulsys B.V., the managed IP and virtual OSS services provider from Mannesmann AG, a subsidiary of Vodafone Group Plc. Terms of the transaction were undisclosed.

“We have been exposed to the complex world of communications for more than a decade through various successful investments in service, applications and technology companies,” said Roberto Italia, a partner and managing director at Warburg Pincus. Hague-based ipulsys offers a range of IP-based services including unipulse, which is a unified messaging service for the business community, and interactive customer engagement (iCE), a virtual, web-enabled operational support system (OSS) for all industry sectors. Its annual revenue was undisclosed.

“We believe ipulsys is a very advanced service provider substantially differentiated thanks to their proprietary approach to enabling OSS functionalities. We are confident in our ability to help a very talented and creative management in building ipulsys further over the years,” said Italia.

Some of Warburg Pincus’portfolio companies in the communication, software, IT service companies, e-businesses and other technology companies include BEA Systems, LCI, Covad Communications, Veritas Software, and Avaya Inc.
