Wellington promotes partner

German VC house Wellington Partners has appointed Christian Reitberger as general partner to its cleantech and electronic team.

For over a year Reitberger has worked as an advisor to Wellington while continuing to invest in technology and cleantech companies as a business angel. Prior to Wellington, he led venture, growth and buyout transactions as a partner in the Tech & Telecom group at Apax Partners.

Reitberger commented on his appointment and said: “We are now entering a “phase 2.0” of cleantech investing. Our job is now to identify global niches where young companies can out-innovate these incumbents and to support European cleantech entrepreneurs to catch the new opportunities.”

With €800m under management and offices in London, Munich, Palo Alto and Zurich, Wellington invests in companies in digital media, cleantech, electronics, software and life sciences.

Reitberger is the first promotion Wellington has made in 2009. In May 2008, Loïc Le Meur, the web entrepreneur behind Ublog, was added to the firm’s venture partner programme.
