Winner and losers

The financial markets have entered awards season and European Venture Capital Journal (EVCJ) is no exception. Next month’s edition will contain the winners and runners up in the following categories. LBO House of the Year, Mid Market Private Equity House of the Year, Mezzanine Provider of the Year, LBO Debt Provider of the Year, Mid Market Debt Provider of the Year, Private Equity Law Firm of the Year, Private Equity Accountancy of the Year, Venture Capital Firm of the Year. Asset-Based Finance Provider of the Year, and Realisation of the Year.

But on with this month’s issue… We revisit the Asian markets to find out what European-based venture capital and private equity firms are doing in the region. The news appears to be good with European-style entrepreneurial culture coming to the fore and plenty of funds destined to invest in the region. And there is a look closer to home namely developments in London market and the high tech and biotech centres of Oxford and Cambridge. The leisure market is the subject of this month’s sector focus where health clubs and pubs have provided some interesting investments.

EVCJ talks to Christopher Wright. Wright has been head of global private equity at Dresdner Kleinwort Capital for almost four years and is currently tasked with doubling the bank’s commitment to private equity.
