1st round for Alphamosaic

Prelude Trust invested GBP1.25 million in Alphamosaic Limited, a spin out from Cambridge Consultants Limited (CCL) at the end of April. This amount is part of GBP6 million destined for the company over the next year. Prelude takes the lion share but the other investors remain unnamed, according to Alphamosaic.

Alphamosaic is an early stage fabless semiconductor design company specialising in low power video processors for mobile devices. It was founded as a unit within CCL last May by Steve Barlow and Robert Swann. Swann says the company expects to arrange a second round of financing next year.

The initial investment from Prelude has helped Alphamosaic acquire certain intellectual property from CCL. Further finance tranches will be linked to the company’s business plan development over the next 12 months. CCL is the European technology centre for consulting firm Arthur D. Little.
