– Accel Partners move to Europe

Accel Partners, the US venture capital firm that specialies in Internet and communications investments, has appointed Kevin Comolli to lead its European business initiative. Accel has just completed the fundraising on Accel Fund VIII, which reached a total of $1.6 billion.

Comolli says the expected time frame for investing the fund is around three years and that this current fund will be deployed primarily in the US. “Our plans are to raise a dedicated European fund sometime within this year and open an office in London. Until we do raise a dedicated European fund we can make investments in Europe from Accel Partners VIII,” says Comolli.

Comolli has recently joined Accel Partners from Doughty Hanson & Co, where he was a London-based partner since 1996. At Doughty Hanson, he was responsible for the origination, execution, monitoring and realisation of pan-European transactions and he founded Doughty Hanson’s technology fund initiative.
