AdAstra and Doughty sell Gomez

US software company Gomez has been sold by its venture capital backers for US$295m to US enterprise software group Compuware

The Lexington, Massachusetts-based company specializes in web application management, and employs 272 people around the world, including the UK, Switzerland, Germany and China. It has over 2,500 customers worldwide, including 12 of the top 20 most visited US web sites, such as Google, Facebook and Amazon.

Gomez has raised US$66m in funding since its launch in 2000, with backing from German VC AdAstra, UK firm Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures (which generated a 5x return from the sale) and a trio of US VCs, ABS Ventures, Aurora Funds and Dolphin Equity Partners.
