Chart of the week: Asia, Europe funds produce strongest 3-year returns for ILPA members

Asian and European private equity and venture capital funds produced strong returns for members of the Institutional Limited Partners Association across all time periods, including the highest IRRs on the board, with 16.84 and 16.73 at the three-year mark.

Natural-resource funds were the only group with negative benchmarks, most likely due to the turmoil in the oil-and-gas sector.

The benchmarks below were created by Cambridge Associates for ILPA and are current through Q3 2016. The numbers reflect pooled net IRRs based on data from some 3,599 unique funds. All funds have at least one ILPA member as an LP. The returns are weighted by the size of cumulative commitments to the funds.
