Francois Lainee has joined French firm Auriga Partners as partner for information technologies, following the close of Auriga II, the firm’s most recent fund raising exercise. His main responsibility will be the assessment of investment opportunities for the new fund.
Lainee started his career as a research engineer at the central laboratory of Thomson group and materials laboratory of Ecole des mines de Paris, where he worked on superconducting materials. From 1995, he was with McKinsey & Co, where he worked both in Paris and New York, mainly in telecoms and high tech.
He said: “By joining the early stage venture capital business, I hope to enter the best of both worlds, combining the intellectual variety of consulting with the long term commitment one finds in business operations.”
