Barclays hires back deal banker Chris Turner from Nomura

Christopher Turner is rejoining the sponsor banking team at Barclays in October less than two years after he left the bank to take a job at Nomura Securities, a Barclays spokesman confirmed.

Turner joined Nomura in 2013 to focus on large and mid-cap private equity companies. At the time, Nomura Securities named Turner as one of a handful of new managing directors expanding its banking operations in the Americas.

James DeNaut, head of Americas investment banking and joint international head of investment banking at Nomura, said at the time the bank was pleased to be adding ”such experienced and talented bankers.” A spokesperson for Nomura could not be reached for comment.

Turner worked as a managing director at Barclays Capital from 2004 to 2013, working on the bank’s financial sponsor coverage, according to his LinkedIn page. He’s rejoining the bank as managing director.

Turner’s prior experience includes working as a consultant to Opera Solutions, a technology firm, in 2013.  He also worked as a managing director of Merrill Lynch from 1990 until 2004.
