BoS reshuffle

Nigel Smith has been promoted from his position as a director of loan distribution at Bank of Scotland (BoS), to chief operating officer of the bank’s Paris office. Smith started his new position in August.

BoS has also appointed Mike Gillespie as director of integrated and acquisition finance for the North of England. Gillespie will lead the bank’s deal teams in Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle and will be based in Manchester.

He has worked at BoS for 16 years, with seven years out of the past 10 in an acquisition finance role. He moved to integrated finance in London in 2001 and completed several deals including the Edinburgh Woollen Mill secondary buyout. Immediately prior to his move to Manchester, he co-led the newly-formed integrated and acquisition finance team in the

South of England.

Gillespie replaces Alastair Donald who led the team for seven years and has moved to the bank’s Liverpool team to take up a position as director of corporate banking. In this new role, Donald will develop and manage relationships with large corporate clients (with a turnover of £25m and above) in the North West.
