Cambridge co-investment exec joins family office Jordan Park

  • Spencer focused on co-investments at Cambridge
  • Joins Jordan Park as a vice president
  • Goldman wealth-management exec formed firm

Jamey Spencer, a managing director at Cambridge Associates focused on co-investments, recently joined fledgling family office Jordan Park Group, according to a person with knowledge of the move.

Spencer updated his LinkedIn account with the new position. He joined Jordan Park as a senior vice president.

“Jamey was a member of the Cambridge team for about three years and we wish him the best in his new role,” Cambridge said in a statement. “His responsibilities are currently being filled by other members of Cambridge’s worldwide investment team.”

He worked at Cambridge from 2014 until he left co-managing the co-investment team. Prior to Cambridge, Spencer worked at Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors as an investment consultant, Fort Point Capital from 2009 to 2013 as a partner, and Morgan Creek Capital Management as a principal, his LinkedIn profile said.

From 2002 to 2006, he was a vice president at Riverside Co. He started his career as an analyst at JP Morgan in energy investment banking.

Jordan Park, San Francisco, is a multifamily office formed earlier this year and owned by Frank Ghali through a related estate-planning entity, the firm’s Form ADV shows. Ghali was at Goldman Sachs for almost 17 years, leading an 18-member team that provided wealth-management advice to individuals, families and nonprofits, his LinkedIn profile said.

Ghali was known for managing the investments of wealthy tech entrepreneurs, according to an April article in AdvisorHub.

The firm’s clients include individuals, families, trusts, partnerships, endowments and foundations. Jordan Park works on a fee-only basis, the filing said. As of June, Jordan Park had about $3.5 billion under management.

“We find that private investments can provide the opportunity for potentially higher returns due to the strength of our collective networks and our clients’ unique abilities to source compelling deals alongside us and for the benefit of our entire community,” the Form ADV said.
