Castellanos to lead Euro Capital in Spain

Former BNP Paribas executive Luis Felipe Castellanos has been hired as managing director of European Capital’s new Madrid office.

European Capital, a buyout firm and mezzanine provider, has hired Luis Felipe Castellanos from BNP Paribas to head up its new Madrid office.

The new office will concentrate on mezzanine investments and flexible financing solutions for the Spanish market. European Capital, a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed American Capital, also has offices in London, Paris and Frankfurt. In total, the four offices have approximately 90 employees.

Castellanos was previously managing director and head of leveraged finance of Spain and Portugal at BNP Paribas in Madrid, where he managed LBOs, MBOs, recapitalisations and refinancings. He was also head of energy, commodities, export and project finance for Spain and Portugal at BNP Paribas as well as director of the project finance & utilities group, first in Paris and then in New York. He began his career in the M&A team at ACS-Dragados in Madrid.

European Capital’s investments in Spain include Amadeus Global Travel, a travel marketing and distribution firm, and Telepizza, an Iberian pizza delivery and take-away business.
