Comments – Abingdon-based Celoxica Holdings plc has received $30 million in a fourth round of venture capital funding. UBS Warburg provided financial advice to Celoxica in a deal backed by Advent Venture Partners, Cazenove Private Equity, Intel Capital, the Isis College Fund, Quester Venture Capital Trust and Wind River Ventures.

Celoxica, a supplier of products and services for the rapid design of reconfigurable hardware is a specialist in silicon chip design. By using high-level software development techniques, with application to hardware design, Celoxica is able to develop silicon chip designs faster than traditional methods.

The successful fundraising of $30 million is being levelled as one of the largest venture rounds for a UK technology company so far this year. Following the round, Celoxica brings its total of venture capital funding to $63 million and is currently valued at around $55 million.

Originally named Embedded Solutions, the technology honed by Celoxica was derived from Oxford University’s Computing Laboratory from which it emerged in 1996. Today the company employs over 100 people and has additional offices in the US, Japan and Singapore.
