Add-ons and buyouts have jockeyed as the leading investment strategy for PE-backed deals for tech, according to Preqin. Thus far in 2018, 449 global tech deals have been add-ons, a five-year high. There have been 331 buyouts in 2018; there were 375 in 2017.
