Clinton Reportedly Ponders Lazard Job

A Washington, D.C., magazine is reporting that President Bill Clinton will join investment bank Lazard Freres & Co. after his tenure at the White House is over.

An article in Washingtonian magazine said Clinton will join old friend and former adviser Vernon Jordan at the New York firm and get paid as much as $10 million a year. The article did not specify what role Clinton will play at the firm.

Partners at Lazard Freres did not return calls regarding the story.

However, a source close to Lazard Freres said no communication has yet occurred between the President and the firm.

“[Lazard Freres is] too smart to have any conversations with a sitting president,” he said.

The source added he would not be surprised if the president were considering such an arrangement.
