Dealmakers in Brief: –

* E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., LLC at the end of 1998 promoted William Janeway to senior managing director.

Mr. Janeway now becomes one of three senior managing directors at the firm, joining Harold Brown and Rodman Moorhead, and is only one step below Chairman and CEO Lionel Pincus and Vice Chairman John Vogelstein.

A spokesperson at the firm said the promotion should not be read as a sign that Mr. Janeway has been chosen as the heir apparent to run the private equity firm.

* Investcorp International in January added Charles Marquis as senior advisor to Investcorp Group and James Egan as a member of the firm’s management committee focusing on post-acquisition management, according to a statement from the firm.

Mr. Marquis was a 31-year veteran of law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where he specialized mergers and acquisitions work.

Mr. Egan most recently was a partner in the U.S. mergers and acquisitions practice of KPMG Peat Marwick.
