Earlybird leads azeti round

German VC Earlybird and NRW.Bank Venture Fund have participated in the first funding round of azeti Networks, a Lünen-based producer of IT security and monitoring technology.

azeti was founded in 2006 and produces an email firewall product, which recognizes spam before it technically and legally becomes unwanted junk mail, and an error detection system for IT infrastructures.

The business was launched by web veteran of over 20 years, Dirk Sommerfeld, former founder and CEO of the TAROX Group, Dirk Hartmann, and the former CEO and co-founder of abaXX AG, Thorsten Schäfe.

Dr Claas Heise, managing director of the NRW.Bank Venture Fund, the VC investment arm of the development bank for North Rhine-Westphalia, says: “The enormous growth potential of these extraordinary technologies, which are ‘made in Germany’, has convinced investors, even in the current financial crisis.”
