Emerging Manager Roundup: GreatPoint, Bonaccord, Cohesive, Endeavour and more

Emerging managers raised $1.6 billion over the past few weeks, continuing a late-winter lull. Four private equity firms and one venture firm raised over $100 million.

GreatPoint Ventures outraised all firms with more than $245.6 million for its second innovation fund. The venture firm was founded by entrepreneurs.

On the private equity side, Bonaccord wasn’t too far behind. The minority-stakes arm of Aberdeen raised over $228 million.

Cohesive Capital Partners was the only other firm to reach above $200 million. The firm raised over $216.9 million for its third fund.

Endeavour Capital raised $130.6 million for its debut fund. The firm invests in the financial-services sector.

Below is a rundown of the most significant emerging private equity and venture funds that Buyouts has identified as being in the market over the past few weeks:

Private Equity:

Bonaccord Capital Partners is the minority-stakes team from Aberdeen Asset Management along with members from Guggenheim Partners. It raised $228 million of a targeted $1 billion for its debut fund.

Cohesive Capital Partners makes direct investments alongside private equity sponsors seeking additional capital. Its third fund raised over $216.9 million.

Endeavour Capital Advisors invests in the financial services sector. Its debut fund raised $130.6 million.

Flying L Partners says that putting value in better medicine will bring better business. Its Oyster Point Pharma fund raised $15.2 million of a targeted $17 million.

Jing Hong, formerly a partner at Hillhouse Capital, formed her own fund. Gaocheng Capital’s debut fund raised $100.3 million.

IWP Family Office supports individuals and families from different backgrounds across the U.S. Its evolution fund raised more than $51.5 million.

LeBaronBrown Industries focuses on the specialty chemical and ingredients distribution industry. Its sophomore fund raised $59.9 million of a targeted $100 million.

Ocean Capital specializes in financing residential and commercial investment properties. Its debut raised $88,000 of a targeted $100 million.

Réaliste Fund backs real estate development projects in Nashville. Its debut fund raised $15 million of a targeted $100 million.

Vedanta Capital focuses on opportunities in the consumer, healthcare and technology industries. Its current fund raised more than $49 million.

Venture Capital:

Ben Franklin Technology Partners focuses on Pennsylvania’s technology community. Its debut fund raised $14.5 million of a targeted $50 million.

Ben Ling’s Bling Capital provides seed funding across multiple sectors, including consumer tech, data, fintech, SaaS and automation. It raised more than $94.6 over five funds.

Glean Capital pursues venture-backed technology companies. Its sophomore fund raised $96.9 million of a $200 million target.

Grayhawk Capital provides capital to early- and growth-stage IT companies. It raised $10 million of a targeted $75 million for its third fund.

GreatPoint is a venture firm founded by entrepreneurs that lead rounds and join its companies’ boards. Its second fund raised more than $245.6 million.

Greenoaks Capital makes concentrated investments in technology-enabled companies globally. It raised $10 million for its second opportunity fund.

InFocus Capital Partners focuses on life-science opportunities. Its debut fund raised more than $10.7 million of a targeted $50 million.

Intudo Ventures focuses solely on Indonesian homegrown early-stage companies. Its sophomore fund raised more than $59.7 million.

Pillar looks to find the next wave of technology companies. It has raised more than $84.8 million of a targeted $85 million.

RRE invests in category-defining companies in industries including financial services, 3D printing, media and space and robotics. Its sophomore leaders fund raised $57.9 million.

TechOperators seeks opportunities in cybersecurity, enterprise productivity and IT infrastructure. Its third fund raised $76.7 million of a targeted $100 million.

Vast Ventures invests in disruptive companies with global impact across a variety of sectors. It closed its current fund at $10 million.
