Comments – Enterprise Investors have announced a $3 million investment into Kinoplex, a Polish cinema operator, in exchange for a 39% stake. The financing will be used to partially finance the company’s expansion programme which includes plans to open at least 9 multiplexes in Polish cities within 2 years.

Active since 1995, Kinoplex operates 28 screens around Poland and is the largest Polish-owned theatre operating group in the country. Its total box office in 2001 was 25.5% higher than the year before and the forecast for 2002 is that attendance will continue to increase.

Jacek Siwick, Managing Partner of Enterprise Investors, commented: ” We believe that the management team is very experienced and capable of implementing the investment programme and successfully expanding the business. We like the strategy of entering new regions of Poland where direct competition with foreign chains is still non-existent.”
