Ex-Crosspoint tech specialist joins Brian Sheth’s new shop

The jump to Sheth’s firm, Haveli Investments, comes after Loring’s quick stint at Crosspoint, which lasted just over a year.

Ian Loring, a tech investor who worked with Bain Capital and emerging manager Crosspoint Capital, joined the new shop formed by ex-Vista Equity number two Brian Sheth.

The jump to Sheth’s firm, Haveli Investments, comes after Loring’s quick stint at Crosspoint, which lasted just over a year. It’s not clear why Loring left the cybersecurity focused first-timer.

Sheth, former president at Vista Equity, formed Haveli last year, according to the firm’s Form ADV. The firm is raising a venture capital gaming fund targeting $750 million and has started the early process of raising its debut enterprise software fund, targeting up to $3 billion, sources said.

As of March, the firm managed about $358 million, according to Haveli’s Form ADV.

The firm formed a strategic partnership with Apollo Global Management earlier this year in which Apollo committed $500 million to Haveli strategies, according to a statement. Apollo also will help Haveli scale, the statement said.

A spokesperson for Haveli declined to comment.

Loring joined Haveli as a senior managing director and executive chair in September, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to joining Crosspoint in 2020, he worked at Bain Capital for almost 25 years, starting in 1996, his profile said.

Other executives at Haveli include Ira Cohen, who joined as a senior managing director in May 2021 after working at Morgan Stanley for more than 11 years in tech and PE investment banking; Lucas Joppa, who joined in September as chief sustainability officer; Ophir Lupu, who joined in July from United Talent Agency, where he worked more over a decade; and Sumit Pande, who joined in September as a senior managing director.
