BlueRun expands India team

Sasha Mirchandani

has joined BlueRun Ventures as a senior investment director in the firm’s Mumbai office. He will focus on consumer, mobile, media, entertainment and services investments. Mirchandani previously was with Mirc Electronics as head of corporate affairs and new business. Menlo Park, Calif.-based BlueRun Ventures, an early stage investor, started to invest in India in 2004 when Sujit Banerjee joined the partnership team.

Leung heads to CVC

Francis Leung

has joined CVC Capital Partners Asia Pacific as a senior advisor focused on opportunities in Greater China. He resigned as Asia chairman for Citigroup Global Markets in February.

Generations promotes Hertzmark

Generation Partners, a Greenwich, Conn.-based private equity firm, has promoted Andrew Hertzmark to partner. He joined the firm in 2004 to focus on health care services. Before that, he was with Galen Associates.

Evercore hires Pensa

Paul Pensa

has joined Evercore Partners as principal accounting officer and controller, effective Monday. He most recently served as a managing director and deputy controller at The Bank of New York Mellon and, before that, spent more than 18 years with Credit Suisse.

Riverstone hires Weymouth

Elizabeth Weymouth has joined Riverstone Holdings as a managing director. She will have responsibility for Riverstone’s fund-raising, investor relations and communications activities. She previously was a senior executive with JPMorgan Private Bank. Riverstone is a $9 billion private equity firm focused on the energy and power sectors.

Accel adds Rhee

has joined Accel Partners as a venture partner in the firm’s Palo Alto, Calif.-based office. Rhee previously was co-founder and chief tactician at Opsware, which recently agreed to be acquired by Hewlett-Packard for $1.6 billion. Before that, he co-founded Kiva Software Corp., which was acquired by Netscape.

Welsh leaves Partech

David Welsh

has joined McAfee Inc. (NYSE: MFE) as executive vice president of corporate strategy and business development. He previously spent seven years as a partner with venture capital firm Partech International.

Hedge fund hires Casari

Antonio Casari

has joined hedge fund Magnetar, where he will work on the firm’s UK private equity team. He previously was a director on the leveraged finance team at Lehman Brothers.

McCormack promoted

Global Life Science Ventures

has promoted Stephen McCormack to managing director. He had joined the firm’s Zug, Switzerland-based office in May 2006, and became a partner that November.
