Jive purchases Filtrbox

Jive Software Inc.

, a Portland, Ore.-based maker of social business collaboration software, has acquired Filtrbox, a Boulder, Colo.-based provider of social media monitoring solutions. No financial terms were disclosed. Filtrbox has raised seed funding from Flywheel Ventures and True Ventures. Jive is also VC-backed, having raised more than $27 million from Sequoia Capital.

Pharmaxis scoops up Topigen

Pharmaxis Ltd.

(ASX: PXS) has agreed to acquire Topigen Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Montreal-based developer of respiratory therapeutics, in a stock deal worth about $21 million. Topigen raised about $58 million from Fonds de Solidarite des Travailleurs du Quebec, MMV Financial, BDC Venture Capital, CDP Capital, T2C2 Capital, Desjardins Venture Capital and Coller Capital.

Microchip gravitates toward ZeroG

Microchip Technology Inc.

(Nasdaq: MCHP) has acquired ZeroG Wireless Inc., a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based developer of low-power WiFi chips. No financial terms were disclosed, although VentureWire characterized the deal as a “fire sale” after ZeroG investors reportedly chose not to invest in the company. ZeroG previously raised about $30 million from Battery Ventures, Greylock Partners, Morgenthaler Ventures and Cisco Systems.

Shanda Games makes play for Mochi

Shanda Games Ltd. (Nasdaq: GAME) has agreed to acquire Mochi Media Inc., a San Francisco-based provider of advertising solutions within Flash games. The deal is valued at $80 million, including $60 million in cash. Mochi Media has raised about $14 million in VC funding from Accel Partners and Shasta Ventures.

Quidel buys Diagnostic Hybrids

Quidel Corp.

(Nasdaq: QDEL) has agreed to acquire Diagnostic Hybrids, an Athens, Ohio-based maker of direct fluorescent in vitro diagnostic assays. The deal is valued at about $130 million in cash. Diagnostic Hybrids raised about $10 million in 2004 from Summit Partners.

Progress moves to buy Savvion

Progress Software Corp.

(Nasdaq: PRGS) has acquired Savvion, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based provider of business process management software. The deal was valued at about $49 million. Savvion had raised nearly $52 million in VC funding since 2000 from H.I.G. Capital, Redwood Ventures, TransCosmos, Westaim Partners, Walden International and VantagePoint Venture Partners.

CUnet acquires Sparkroom

CUnet, a subsidiary of Nelnet Inc. (NYSE: NNI), has agreed to acquire Sparkroom, a Toronto-based provider of enrollment marketing automation and lead performance management solutions. No financial terms were disclosed. Sparkroom raised about $4 million in VC funding from Matrix Partners in 2007.

AkaRx sells for $255M

has acquired AkaRx Inc., a Paramus, N.J.-based drug company focused on thrombocytopenia, for $255 million. AkaRx had raised over $16 million in VC funding from InterWest Partners, Astellas Venture Capital and Sutter Hill Ventures.

CA buys cloud company Oblicore

CA Inc.

(Nasdaq: CA) has acquired Oblicore, a Waltham, Mass.-based provider of service level management software for enterprises and service providers. No financial terms were disclosed. Oblicore raised about $20 million in VC funding, from firms like JVP, Concord Ventures, Shrem Fudim Kelner Technologies, Platinum-Neurone Ventures and Technoplast Technologies.

BMC hot for Phurnace

BMC Software

(Nasdaq: BMC) has acquired Phurnace Software Inc., an Austin, Texas-based Java application deployment company. No financial terms were disclosed. Phurnace raised about $6 million in VC funding from S3 Ventures and DFJ Mercury.

Cisco swallows up Rohati

Cisco Systems has acquired Rohati Systems Inc., a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based provider of network-based entitlement control solutions. No financial terms were disclosed. Rohati has raised more than $22 million in VC funding since late 2006 from Matrix Partners and Foundation Capital.

SeaChange buys VividLogic

(Nasdaq: SEAC) has agreed to buy VividLogic Inc., a Fremont, Calif.-based provider of software and services to cable television service providers, set-top box manufacturers and consumer electronics suppliers. No financial terms were disclosed. VividLogic raised $3 million in 2005 from Constellation Ventures.

Motorola calls on SecureMedia

Motorola

has agreed to acquire the assets of SecureMedia, a provider of software-based digital rights management and security systems for IP video distribution and management. No financial terms were disclosed. SecureMedia had raised over $4 million in VC funding from M/C Venture Partners.

TIBCO acquires Foresight

TIBCO Software Inc. (Nasdaq: TIBX) has acquired Foresight Corp., a Dublin, Ohio-based provider of transaction automation solutions and EDI productivity tools. No financial terms were disclosed. Foresight had raised about $6 million in VC funding from Aurora Funds, Core Capital Partners, Fountainhead Capital and River Cities Capital Funds.
