Red Hat buys Qumranet

Red Hat Inc.

(NYSE: RHT) has acquired Qumranet Inc., an Israel-based provider of virtualization solutions. No financial terms were disclosed. Qumranet raised $4.8 million in a Series A round nearly two years ago from Sequoia Capital and Norwest Venture Partners.

Pall buys GeneSystems

Pall Corp. (NYSE: PLL) has acquired GeneSystems, a French developer of a molecular diagnostics platform. No financial terms were disclosed. GeneSystems had raised about $5 million in VC funding since 2003 from CVC Enterprises, Endeavour Vision SA and XAnge Private Equity.

Advent eats Tamale

Advent Software Inc.

(Nasdaq: ADVS) has agreed to acquire Tamale Software Inc., a provider of research management solutions. The deal is valued at about $70 million, including $28 million in cash. Tamale had raised an undisclosed amount of strategic funding from Morgan Stanley.

Social.im sells to iSkoot

San Franciso-based iSkoot Inc., a provider of mobile VoIP solutions, has acquired Social.im, a social networking instant messaging client. No financial terms were disclosed. Social.im had raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Felicis Ventures and individual investors. iSkoot is also venture-backed, having raised about $15 million Charles River Ventures, Khosla Ventures and ZG Ventures.
