Former Coller fundraiser joins Irving Place

  • Ashley Johansen left Coller in February
  • Johansen joins to organize annual meeting this summer
  • She is focused on marketing, strategy and investor communications

Ashley Johansen, former partner in fundraising and investor relations at Coller Capital, joined Irving Place Capital recently on a contract basis, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Johansen, who is listed on Irving Place’s website, joined as a senior advisor focused on marketing, strategy and investor communications.

Johansen was brought on to plan and organize Irving Place’s annual meeting this summer, the person said. It’s not clear how long Johansen’s contract runs.

She worked at Coller for about 10 years. According to her LinkedIn profile, Johansen joined the firm as senior marketing manager in September 2005, then left in November 2012 to be a principal at AlpInvest Partners, before returning to Coller as a partner in September 2013.

Johansen left Coller in January, around the same time that former chief executive officer Tim Jones left the firm. The firm said in a statement at the time that it was initiating a management review.

LPs questioned the timing of Jones’s departure, which came around a month after the firm closed its seventh fund on $7.15 billion.

Coller and Irving Place have another connection. Coller was the lead investor last year in the restructuring of Irving Place Capital Partners III — a $2.7 billion, 2006 fund. Coller led a group that bought out existing LP stakes and contributed capital for new investments.

Correction: Johansen left Coller in January, not February. The report has been corrected.
