Front Porch Wins $1.5 Million

Proving that low-tech deals still hold water in venture capital circles, Seattle-based game maker Front Porch Classics this month scored $1.5 million from Northwest Venture Associates.

The company, which manufactures and sells family-oriented board games such as Old Century Baseball and Dread Pirate, intends to use the money from its first institutional infusion to beef up its product line and gain customer traction in the marketplace.

Front Porch is already well on its way, having signed on such distributors as Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com Inc. and the Discovery Store.
