The ML Private Opportunities Fund LP of Plainsboro, N.J., has filed to raise $250 million through a private offering of partnership interests. At the time of its SEC filing, the fund had already raised $66 million from 39 accredited investors. The filing states that the fund is the co-owner of Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. Alta California Partners II LP raised $30 million from 12 accredited investors through a private placement of limited partnership interests. The fund?s investors include California Public Employees? Retirement System and Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America. Additionally, Alta California Management Partners II LLC raised $303,030 from four accredited investors. Both funds are located in San Francisco and plan to make venture capital investments. Monitor Venture Partners I LP of Palo Alto, Calif., raised an additional $1.5 million from two accredited investors through a private placement of limited partnership interests. This brings the total amount raised to $19.1 million. The fund reported that it had raised $17.6 million from 20 accredited investors as of August 2004. The fund?s investors include Shea Ventures LLC and Trustees of Grinnell College. Additionally, Monitor Venture Partners LP raised an additional $50,000 to bring the total to $10.25 million. Both funds plan to engage in venture capital activities. EnCap Energy Capital Fund V LP raised $454.7 million from 60 accredited investors through a private placement of partnership interests. Additionally, EnCap Energy Capital Fund V-B LP raised $360 million from 38 accredited investors through a private placement of partnership interests. The list of investors in the V-B fund includes The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University and Citigroup Pension Plan. Both private equity funds are located in Houston, have EnCap Equity Fund V GP as a general partner and plan to invest in independent oil and gas companies.
