German investment slows

Investments in the German private equity market have slowed with investments for the first half of the year falling from E1,410m to E760.86m. The slump in investments is said to be due to a lack of large buyout opportunities in Germany so far this year.

Early stage investments and fund raising both posted positive results for the first half. Capital raised for early stage investments rose to E79.7m in the second quarter of the year from E54.5m in the first quarter.

Funds raised in the first half of the year reached E4.5bn. However, E4.3bn of this was raised by pan-European buyout groups.
